Our History
Our owner, Narmail Chana, was inspired by his father to become a business owner. After having worked in the fabrication industry for over 20 years, he decided to go out on his own and started A.C. Machine Works Ltd.
Narmail started his first prototyping business in the garage of his own house, with his first client being his next-door neighbour. Since these modest beginnings, we have since expanded to an industrial location in Southeast Calgary and now have a shop with six fabricators and machinists to better suit our clients’ needs.
Today, we continue to supply services to our customers in the oil and gas industry and are looking forward to future challenges. Eventually, we would like to expand more into the automotive industry.

1985
August Contera Engineering becomes first big contract for AC Machine Works Ltd. for portable drilling rig equipment prototyping
1986
Narmail Chana moves to his first industrial shop at Ogden Road
1986
AC Machine Works Ltd. hires its first employee
1988
BJ Services provides another challenging project for AC Machine Works, which completes prototyping for underbalance contour tools
1988
AC Machine Works moves into present 3,200-square-foot.shop in the Foothills Industrial Park
1990
A small recession hits, but our business is strong enough to withstand it
2007
AC Machine Works has to lay off one employee for the first time ever
2009
Another recession hits, but our business remains strong
